Today we have 921 spaces full with
766 owners and 155 renters. We are somewhat down in population compared to last
year at this time when we had 787 owners and 169 renters for a total of 956.
This is an exciting time. Things
are starting to come together quite well. We received the first draft of the
reserve study last Friday. Copies have been made for pertinent committees to
study. By the end of March we will have a meeting to finalize questions for
Reserve Advisors or make any correction that we deem necessary.
I received a new contract that is
correct this time from SRP regarding the extra 400 amps they will deliver to us
sometime this summer. As I have reported before we have to pay SRP for the
difference between aluminum wire and copper wire. Because we only have two
conduits from the transformer to our switch gear that distributes the
electricity, we must use copper wire. SRP was willing to give us the aluminum,
but we will have to pay the difference between the two. According to two
separate sources, copper wire is $15 - $20 per foot and aluminum is $3 - $5 per
foot. Because copper is actually better for our purposes, we should be happy to
pay this difference. The dollar amount from SRP is $5601. I will be accepting
bids for the remainder of the project which includes new buzz bars that will
handle 800 amps and one new switch to distribute our new amps.
The big dig is nearly complete at
the Library Building and I was assured that the phones in that building will be
working by Wednesday. The delay was caused by the late shipment of pedestals.
Check out the new lights we have along the sidewalk on the west side of the
Library Building. It was quite dark there, so these lights brighten up the
area. These new lights were donated to the park by Cirtcele Electric.
Unfortunately, I have to report
that we have had three burglaries here in the park. Three automobiles were
ransacked a week ago Sunday during the night. None of the cars were locked.
The main target seems to have been something easy to sell. The burglars netted
three GPS systems, one camera and two garage openers that worked garages back
home. More seriously, residents on the Goldfield Rd. wall had their window shot
out last week. The bullet was found lodged in a cupboard. Fortunately, no one
was hurt. The police were called and are investigating. It is a sad day for our
society when honest law-abiding citizens like we have living here at Golden
Vista must lock their cars and houses even when they are at home. Please take
precautions. If you see or hear anything suspicious at night, call security
right away. He will come immediately. During the day, please notify the
office.
During the last week or so, many
owners have received a tax evaluation sheet from Pinal County. I received mine
yesterday. It is a blue sheet of paper. On the bottom half of the sheet is
information that is important if you rent your property. The Arizona
legislature passed a law in 2006 that requites owners who rent their property to
register it as a rental property at the Pinal County Assessors Office. I
checked with the Real Estate Office. They have not filed this form for you as
it requires a signature. I think they plan to have the forms available for
future clients. Anyway, there is a substantial penalty if owners fail to
register their property. Should anyone be interested I have the forms in the
office to use for registration.
As the end of the season
approaches, committees are busy preparing their prospective projects. On March
11, next Tuesday, Planning and Development will present these projects to the
budget committee. The meeting is open to all who are interested and will be a
9:30 am here in the ballroom. The following Tuesday, March 18 at a regular
Board of Directors meeting, the projects will be submitted to the board for
funding.
This month of March is
traditionally a busy month as far as guests go. Remember to caution your
guests to shower before entering pools or hot tub. Also, proper attire is
necessary to enter the pools. Shorts and t-shirts are filled with leftover soap
from laundering and can cause suds in the hot tub.
Former resident, Dick Hessenius,
has donated two benches and a table to be placed on the south end of the
retention area in remembrance of his wife Betty. It should be in place by the
end of this week. The Pet Committee has arranged to place block under the
benches and the table.
