GV Christian WomenGolden Vista Christian Women's Group The Christian Women's Group is a group of ladies that get together once a month for Christian Fellowship. This group is not associated with the National Christian Women's Group. They meet once a month, usually on the second Thursday of each month. The group begins with a devotion, music of some kind, and program. The programs have consisted of speakers, which have come from all walks of life and from all over the world, and of course always food.
They (depending on the month) have between 150 to 300 ladies that attend these meetings.
The group has a board of directors that consists of a
president, secretary/treasurer, devotion, publicity, decoration, food
and outreach chairman. This board gets together once each month to
put the program together for that month. There are no dues, only
voluntary donations. These donations are used to cover the cost of
lunch, decorations, publicity, and honorarium for the speaker. None of
the donations are kept. The organization sponsors several programs, such
as Autumn House, a place for women and children who are recipients of
abuse, Sunshine Acres, a Children's home, Apache Junction victim
assistance program with the Apache Junction police department and Hope
Women's center plus other needy projects. The group also gets part of
the money from all the cans that are recycled. This goes for "Trash for
Teddy Bears", given to Apache Junction Police Department for the
children taken out of an abusive situation. Each year In November they
have a Welcome Back Coffee on the patio around the pool, for all the men
and women who have returned at that time to Golden Vista. In December
they have a Christmas Salad luncheon, in January usually something extra
special, like a Tea Party, or Garden Party etc. In February they have a
Valentine Brunch, March and April are usually the last meetings until
November when they start all over. Everyone has a wonderful and
informative time at these meetings in a Christian atmosphere. Every lady
in Golden Vista is invited to attend, regardless of religion as the
group is a non denominational organization.
